Item Condition Guidelines

Unless otherwise noted on the item page, item conditions mean the following:

New

Brand new item sealed in original manufacturer packaging.

Used

Used items in all conditions are in working order and include batteries. Hard slide cover is typically included if calculator normally comes with one; soft cases, manuals, cables, software, and other accessories are typically not included.

Used - Good

Good condition items may have scratches, minor dents, markings, missing feet, and other signs of use, but should not have issues that interfere with normal operation or have abnormally extensive cosmetic damage (e.g. much of the unit is painted, significantly worn keys, display issues, etc.)

Used - Acceptable

Acceptable items may have substantially larger cosmetic imperfections and marks and may have more of them. They will not have issues that interfere with use.

Used - Very Good

Very Good items will have very minor cosmetic imperfections and small signs of use.

Used - Like New

Like New items will show few if any signs of use and/or are customer returns of new items without noticeable blemishes.

Budget

Budget units have minor functional defects that do not prevent use such as minor dark spots, a few lines of missing pixels, significant screen scratches, etc. The specific issue will be stated in the condition - for example, Budget - Dark Spot - and will usually be detailed further on the page. These items will be in Acceptable or better cosmetic condition unless otherwise described. Hard slide cover might not be included.

Defective

Defective units do not function or require significant adjustments to use. They are generally being sold for Parts or Repair or for those familiar with the flaw and willing to work around it. The specific defect will be stated in the condition - for example, Defective - No On - and will usually be detailed further on the page. These items may be in any cosmetic condition, might not include batteries or slide covers, and might be missing parts - check item page for details.

The R47 is a powerful, RPN-based programmable scientific calculator with an extensive feature set. Its software has been refined over many years, born from the vision of a dream calculator developed by a team of engineers and mathematicians, all dedicated calculator enthusiasts.

Community-developed and manufactured by SwissMicros, the R47 runs firmware that is functionally identical to that of the C47, which offers a way to transform a DM42n into a feature-rich RPN calculator using a dedicated keypad overlay.

The C47/R47 firmware originated as a fork of the WP43 project, itself derived from the WP34S. A core component carried through this lineage is the decNumber library by Mike Cowlishaw for precise decimal arithmetic.

IMPORTANT: The R47 firmware is not written, distributed, or maintained by SwissMicros, and any support for the R47 firmware must be requested and handled by the R47 team via email to support@47calc.com. Please see the documentation at https://47calc.com/. The software (firmware) is currently in beta.

  • Create programs using a multi-line editor.
  • Be keystroke programmable with tests, flags, looping, and branching.
  • Conduct financial and date-based calculations, including time value of money operations.
  • Apply built-in unit conversions and a library of constants.
  • Perform date and time math, as well as built-in clock functions.
  • Include an equation writer with support for solving, numeric integration, derivatives, and basic plotting.
  • Support factoring and other operations on 1000-digit integers.
  • Include built-in electrical engineering applications, such as three-phase calculations.
  • Feature 8 stack levels, 3 rows of menus, and an always-on status bar.
  • Offer user-customizable keyboard and softkey-based menus.
  • Restore states, programs, and configuration via USB-C.
  • Maintain backwards compatibility with HP-41 and HP-42 workflows.
